Met Don and Gloria this morning at Panera's for breakfast. Parked our car at the Carsten Centre for our bike ride. We met Don and Gloria on the bike trail. He is 84 and rides 15 to 20 miles every day. They both have a great sense of humour and are a delight to be with.

There are a pair of Canada Geese at Junie's Lake where we had our picnic breakfast today. Ma Goose appears to be sitting on eggs while here is a shot of Pa Goose relaxing on one leg.. This Red-Winged Blackbird likes to check us out while we while we enjoy our breakfast.

Besides the dandelions and tiny pink Smooth Douglasia creeper that we have seen so far this spring, this little wild flower which resembles the Wavy-leaved Soap Plant flower is the first true wild flower that we have seen this spring. Had a walk along Bear Creek Trail today to check out the Owls- all seemed to be doing OK. Bear Creek a raging torrent after all the snow and rain of the past few weeks- never seen it so full. These shots of the creek and a memorial to a water engineer responsible for much of the waterways, taken with the M9 + Zeiss 25mm lens

Used my full frame Tamron 70-300mm lens on the Olympus E-P2 for these shots. What is nice about this combo is that I can use the lens at full aperture, f5.6 at 300mm and get pin sharp images because the 1/2 size sensor of the Olympus only uses the center part of the lens. Also this lens has a very positive manual focusing mechanism. All shots at f5.6, 1/350, 1/250 and 1/4000

Should have taken our cameras with us as there were some really interesting winter scenes. I always kick myself when i forget to carry my camera. After cloudy weather the sun came out briefly today which gave us the opportunity of going for a walk around Stone House at Bear Creek. sudden break in the weather today. House shot with the M9 + 25mm Zeiss lens,f5.6, 1/750. The statue at f8, 1/90.
While we were strolling around the house some folks asked if we had seen the owl nest. When we said no, they gave us directions to it, this shot near the nest taken with June's Lumix at 200mm of Mr Owl who was perched in this cottonwood just near the nest

After breakfast this morning, decided to see how the owls on 285 and Simms, were getting on. Last week the Division of Wildlife had put up barracades to stop people parking on the verge so had to park about a 1/4 mile away. I now also have a Sony/Minolta lens adaptor for my Olympus so look my 200-500 Tamron lens plus tripod. With the crop factor on the Olympus, this gives me an equivalent focal length of 400-1000mm, f5.6-f6.3. Also, because of the crop factor, I am only using the center of the lens area, I find that at full aperture the lens is still nice and sharp. These images therefor taken at 1000mm at f6.3 and 1/250 and iso 200

Spotted this hawk sitting in a tree next to the road around Bear Lake. However before we could get our cameras out of their bags he took off, just managed to get this shot as he flew over the hill. About the same size as a red tailed hawk but we think that it is in fact a rough legged hawk. Shot with usual camera, tele elmar 1:4/135 at f6.3, 1/640 cropped to 7x
